Psychosomatologist
In my therapy, I have combined psychosomatics, hypnotherapy, and nutrition science in Barnstaple.
I work with various eating disorders such as eating disorders (EDs), anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and compulsive overeating.
I teach holistic nutrition as a way of life.
Your body is talking to you. Are you listening?
Chronic fatigue, unexplained pain, a lump-in-the-throat sensation, heaviness in the chest — these are not happening “for no reason.” The body often expresses what words cannot.
I help uncover the connection between what is happening inside and what is hurting on the outside. Without judgment. Without unnecessary medication. With attention to you as a person, not just a collection of symptoms.

When doctors cannot find a cause, but you still do not feel better
Sometimes the body signals stress, suppressed emotions, or inner conflicts — and these show up physically as headaches, gastrointestinal problems, sleep disturbances, and chronic pain.
I help identify what lies behind the symptoms and work with the root cause — not just the consequences.
Psychosomatic illnesses are conditions in which psychological factors (stress, anxiety, chronic emotional tension, and internal conflicts) can influence the development, course, or worsening of physical symptoms. This does not mean that the illness is “imagined”: the symptoms are real, but they may be significantly affected by the state of the nervous system.
Conditions and illnesses in which psychosomatic factors often play a role include:
▸ Hypertension (high blood pressure)
▸ Peptic ulcer disease (although bacteria and other factors often play a primary role)
▸ Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
▸ Bronchial asthma (stress can trigger attacks)
▸ Migraine
▸ Psoriasis
▸ Atopic dermatitis
▸ Chronic back pain
▸ Fibromyalgia
▸ Insomnia
There are also so-called somatoform disorders, in which a person experiences physical symptoms (pain, weakness, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, etc.), but medical examinations do not reveal a disease that fully explains these symptoms.
Common psychosomatic manifestations include:
▸ A lump-in-the-throat sensation
▸ Stomach pain before important events
▸ Rapid heartbeat during anxiety
▸ Tension headaches
▸ Muscle tension and pain in the neck, shoulders, and back
▸ Chronic fatigue
It is important to remember that the presence of a psychosomatic component does not rule out an ordinary physical illness. Therefore, when symptoms appear, a medical evaluation is recommended first, and only then should the influence of stress and emotional factors be considered.
